Good day to my glorious groupies,
I hope you’re all staying well amidst this car crash we’re all in, but can’t escape. The wheels blew off long ago, and we’re scraping along at 100000 miles an hour.
It’s Sunday morning here, and I’ve got the day ahead. I’m not sure about you, but I love Sundays, there’s something so cosy about them. Pottering takes on a whole new level. I’ve washed my bed sheets (CLEAN BED TONIGHT SHAMONE!) and the day is outstretched with no plans. The humidity in Charlotte is disgusting. Going for a walk is pleasant for about 2 minutes, then you feel the ball of sweat running down your back, and half your face is melting off, along with your sunscreen.
Yesterday, America gathered to protest and stand up to the orange clown currently in the highest office of the land. It warms my cockles to see such crowds are saying NO DICKHEAD. America isn’t taking this lying down. There is hope. There was a march planned in Charlotte, I didn’t go, in part because Az said not to, normally I’m not one to obey orders as one might hazzard a guess but this is America after all and emotions are running high to say the least, making it a potential for trouble to go down. Also, as lame as this sounds, I did not want to swelter under the sun. So I cheered folk on and said a prayer out loud for the madness to end in the comfort of air conditioning. Someone, please, anyone, stop him.
FYI - I’m sitting on my couch watching my washing blow on my balcony, I don’t know if anything gives me more satisfaction than this, hmm, perhaps a strong internet connection and some time alone? It’s okay, I know I need help, I’m my mother's daughter after all. When I take my mum shopping, she’s first down the cleaning aisle looking at the washing detergents with the wonder of a 5-year-old girl at Peppa Pig land. My mum gave me a huge bath towel when I was home a few weeks back, she couldn’t hold it with her bad wrist, I’m still using it because a) I’m a dirt bag and b) It still smells like fairies have personally tended it to it, it’s still so beautifully scented. I can’t bear to put it in my machine, because then I won’t smell my mum. Smell is very important to me, ask my husband, he’s permanently being sniffed and poked with, the other day he jokingly declared ‘I’m not a piece of meat!’ which I guffawed at and carried on. Who’s he trying to kid? We’re both as needy and weird as the other.
I got a blow-dry, or should I say ‘Blowout,’ this week at the Aveda training school; all the girls in there are in the final months of graduating and are always adorable. They love me in there because I’m English and enthusiastic, and love finding out their story and what their favourite things as a stylist are to do. Luckily, my stylist loves blowouts; You can tell, she’s got the precision and aim of an assassin and is done within 20 minutes. The hair supervisor comes over and says, ‘Hey Miss Sammy, good to see you!’ which I squeal at and feel as important as Princess Kate (but with a swagger). After hugs and the exchange of Instagrams, I’m on the street swooshing my hair like a 90s supermodel, and my hair demands that I take her out for a beer, it’s not every day it looks this worthy. I feel like a Southern Belle. A southern belle who wears T-shirts like this. If this isn’t the coolest thing you’ve ever seen, then tsk!
Lastly, Az and I are going to Montreal in the week of July 4th (he’s got a week off for Independence Day). We’re spending it with our good friends and their neighbours, we’ve hired a cabin by a lake. When I say cabin, it’s a pimp palace fit for a rapper, cocaine and hookers. Absolutely off the charts! It’s going to be so wholesome that I’m dying already, cue Dawson’s Creek music. We are driving from Charlotte, which will take approximately 15 hours. This was still more favourable than spending $2,000 on two flights. INSANE! To break it up, we’re going to spend the night in Scranton (where The Office was filmed).
Short and sweet this week, guys, I’ve got further pottering to do and further investigations on what hair colour I might go next (I’m thinking Aqua green and pink). I don’t want to look like a soap dodger, though, so I have to choose carefully.
Have a great week, lovers - terrah!
As usual, I love everything about this 😆Thank you!
